The Angry Scotsmen RC
Guidelines and Expectations
As an RC member, strive to conduct yourself in a responsible manner so as to not give your club a bad name. Whether you are wearing your patch or not, common courtesy and respect for ANY individual you make contact with will always leave a good impression of you, your club, and motorcyclists in general.
Always display a positive attitude.
An RC patch should never be referred to as colors. RC members should NEVER wear any kind of location banner with their patch and NEVER wear any kind of support patch for any MC.
Name patches are a matter of preference. The colors chosen are up to the individual. As a club, we do not sanction or require a particular color combination but we discourage the use of the following color combinations to avoid being identified as a possible support group for various Motorcycle Clubs and out of respect for the Motorcycle Clubs that employ them as their own:
• Red and White
• Red and Black
• Red and Yellow
• Black and Grey
• Yellow and Black
Participate as much as you are comfortable with. You joined to ride and meet others with the same interest, but the more you participate the more you will get to know others and enjoy the experience. You will only get out of it that you put into it.
Meeting new people is one of the things a RC is about. Answer questions as you are able. If you do not know the answer to a question, refer the questioner to someone you think might know, such as one of the founders of the club. Do not give out personal information unless you know that the person being asked about wants it given out; that's only common sense.
It’s great to introduce new people to the group; just make sure you don't interrupt a conversation when doing so.
While in public places, always conduct yourself with your club in mind. Remember that what you do, people will remember; good or bad. The public perception of anyone who rides a bike should be considered and a good attitude is always the kind of perception we want to present, club or no club.
You should always conduct yourself responsibly when dealing with other people, including e-mails and on the internet. RC’s do not have colors - the patch is a purchased patch that shows you are a part of a riding club whose purpose is to get together to ride motorcycles and enjoy the companionship of others with a similar interest.
Always show respect and courtesy to everyone, club or not. It’s the polite thing to do.
Never lie to anyone (other club member, prospective member, or member of a RC, RA, or MC). Either answer the question or refer the questioner to someone who can.
NEVER use the term "Outlaw Club" or any of the other names they are known by when speaking to strangers (you never know when one of them might be a member of an MC, be a support member or know members of an MC).
Never call a member of another club "brother". If he is a friend and you two consider each other brothers, wait for him to address you as such in public.
At an open function, never turn your back to a member of a RC, RA, or MC. This is not so much for safety reasons, but as a show of respect. Ignorance will not protect you from getting your face kicked in. Remember, it’s always polite to face the individual or group you are talking to.
Never let someone go off alone without someone keeping an eye on them. If he is going out to their car, bike, or even just out to get some fresh air, go with them. Watch their back at all times.
No one gets left behind. You are expected to stop and help another rider whether you’re riding at the time or in a cage. Exceptions to this expectation is tolerated for family safety or other significant reason – personal discretion and adherence to this expectation is the responsibility of the member. Blatant failure to adhere to this expectation (I’m too busy, it was rainy, he wasn't riding a cruiser, etc.) will be cause for expulsion.
No drinking and riding. Wait until you get to your destination for the day. No riding until the following day.
Wear a helmet. Whether you agree with the helmet laws or not, we are
not in the business of watching our friends die. If you don’t like this
expectation, don’t ride with us. Remember, you are representing the whole
riding community and breaking the law in any form brings discredit upon
us all.
ALL GROUP RIDERS' RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observe the objectives and guidelines in order to assure the safety and the welfare of every individual within the group, and any surrounding motorists or pedestrians.
Follow the instructions of the Road Leader in all situations, unless those instructions place the rider or any other individual in an unsafe situation.
Maintain your motorcycle and other equipment in a safe riding condition.
Ride with headlights on or in accordance with the state laws.
Will ride with a "safety first" attitude. The safety of all individuals, whether or not they are a part of the group, is of paramount importance.
Will ride with a helmet where the state law requires a helmet.
Each individual rider is 100% responsible for:
1. Safely operating their vehicle in accordance with all applicable
Federal, State, and local laws.2. Making sure that they and their vehicle are un-impaired, and are currently functioning safely.
3. Making sure that they can perform and maneuver safely in the riding
environment that they are in. Should they be not 100% sure of their ability in the current ride, they must remove themselves from the situation. At all times, each rider must ride within their capabilities.
4. Section (1) - (3) above and thus, ultimately, their own safety, actions and/or lack of action. It is the duty of every rider to make sure the environment is safe for themselves as well as for other riders. In doing so, every ride will be as safe as possible.
The Angry Scotsmen Riding Club does not condone drinking and riding. Anyone participating in an Angry Scotsmen ride or event who consumes alcoholic beverages or any other substance that may impair their ability to operate a motorcycle or any other motor vehicle does so without the consent of the Angry Scotsmen Riding Club. Everyone that participates in an Angry Scotsmen ride or event must follow the laws regarding driving under the influence set forth by the state(s) within which that ride or event will take place.
Any founder of the Angry Scotsmen Riding Club may dismiss anyone participating
in an Angry Scotsmen ride or event if they are impaired or are endangering
the safety of ride participants. Ultimately, it is the individual’s responsibility
to maintain themselves in a safe and lawful manner.
